Ricky Gervais on being asked why he doesn’t believe in God (via chawan)
Why don’t I believe in God? No, no no, why do YOU believe in God? Surely the burden of proof is on the believer. You started all this. If I came up to you and said, “Why don’t you believe I can fly?” You’d say, “Why would I?” I’d reply, “Because it’s a matter of faith.” If I then said, “Prove I can’t fly. Prove I can’t fly see, see, you can’t prove it can you?” You’d probably either walk away, call security or throw me out of the window and shout, ‘’F—ing fly then you lunatic.(via dead-logic)

the beatles - two of us

This was the second book i read. My mother gave it to me on Christmas of 2008 i believe. I watched the movie when i was younger and when i found out there was a book well i became obsessed about it. As you know there are parts of the book that are not in the movie. I loved it. It’s inspiring and i could relate to some things with it. My family was very poor. My mother was kind of like Frankie, she had to take care of her little brothers and her mother. So when i read this i just fell in love with the book and it made me think that i myself worry a lot about mundane things like not having internet connection or not wanting to go to school and these kids had to worry about an alcoholic father a sickness that was killing their family and a really conformist mother. So it kind of made me put my feet on earth and think that are people not as lucky at us and they fight and make it through it.
2. Rayuela by Julio Cortázar
This is an awesome book. There are two ways of reading it. And it’s really confusing sometimes. It mixes comedy and drama and the characters are really interesting. It was the first book i read. I don’t recommend it to beginners because it’s a little bit complicated and you have to really pay attention. I’ve read it like four times and i still don’t understand some parts. I enjoyed reading it a lot. And i confess when i was starting to write i tried to have the style of Cortázar but let’s be honest he’s unique.
3. Demian by Herman Hesse
I love this book. And specially a quote “i wanted only to live my life in accord with the promptings which came from my true self. Why was that so very difficult?”. I read this book when i was having troubles with being myself and that quote reflected it. Demian is more than a book to me it will always have a big impact on me. Because that book was kind of like looking into myself.
